After the fight between Maria and Jo, which pushes both of them to their limits, Maria loses her will to fight and is restored to her true humanity. All the same, the two anime have a lot in common - beyond the stereotypical 'girls with guns' theme. Jo's counterpart, Maria, frees her and Meg to prove who was the strongest by re-staging the fight they were unable to finish in their past. Burst Angel never really makes up its mind whether it it wants to take itself seriously or just be a light fanservicy romp, whereas Daphne in the BrilliantBlue gives the viewer very little beyond fanservice. After being forced to surrender with Meg and others held hostage, Jo returns to the secret labs for reprogramming and conditioning at Hinode. ![]() Jo would eventually rediscover her past as a genetically engineered war machine in human form. Having been spoiled by the high quality of the GWG-anime Black Lagoon, I watched a couple of episodes of Burst Angel online, then left it and later couldn’t find it anymore. When she is not fighting, she enjoys watching horror or gore related movies. A couple of years ago when I wanted to rekindle my interest in anime, I stumbled over this series. ![]() Jo also puts Meg over anything else, which she stated when telling Meg that she fights for her. Jo is the muscle of the group, as well as the pilot of Django, which she uses to carry out various missions for Sei and to help out her friends when they're in need, mainly Meg. ![]()
